Environmental, Social & Governance Practices
At AdvanceWorks we believe that corporate life is much more than just about fast growth. So we act on the three pillars of our Environmental, Social, and Governance practices (ESG), setting targets and measuring the outcome of its actions, to make sure that AdvanceWorks keeps on changing the world for the better.
Our ESG practices consist of formal and informal initiatives, gathering financial resources, NG organizations, clients, our team, our families and our communities, and are organized according to three layers:
- Environmental initiatives
- Social practices
- Governance policies


How we put ESG into action
At AdvanceWorks, we´re not just focused on creating great software – we care deeply about how we impact the world around us. That´s why our commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices is grounded in real, everyday actions.
Each year, we plant the number of trees needed to fully offset our carbon footprint. Inside our offices, we recycle consistently, reduce paper use whenever possible, and support broader environmental efforts like beach cleanups.
On the social side, we actively encourage our team to engage with causes that matter. From participating in hackathons that drive innovation to hosting on-site volunteering actions like blood donation drives and annual food collections, we look for ways to make it easy and meaningful for everyone to get involved. We also run a yearly steps challenge that brings people together, encourages healthy habits, and builds team spirit beyond the desk.
A cause especially close to our hearts is our partnership with Fundação Gil, through which we support initiatives aimed at improving the lives of children and families in vulnerable situations. This collaboration also brings tangible benefits to our own team – employees have access to therapy sessions for their children and the opportunity to enroll them in Fundação Gil’s summer campus.
Knowledge-sharing is another core part of our culture. We regularly hold open sessions where anyone can share expertise, ideas, or interests – even those that go beyond day-to-day work. And every year, we welcome interns from top universities who want to experience what it´s like to work at a Portuguese tech company. These exchanges help us learn new perspectives and contribute to a more connected, collaborative industry.
