Industry: Insurance | Service: Low-Code development

AdvanceWorks collaborated with a Belgian Health Insurance company to develop a web app, streamlining communication between caretakers and the insurer.

In order to remain competitive in this age of rapid technological innovation, industries all over the world are undergoing enormous alterations. This also applies to the insurance sector, traditionally known for its reliance on paperwork and manual processes, is no exception. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, insurance companies face increasing pressure to modernize their operations and enhance customer experiences. Against this backdrop, the implementation of a B2B portal solution represents a crucial step for insurance companies seeking to modernize their operations and better serve their stakeholders.

This case study explores how AdvanceWorks developed a web application for a prominent Belgian Health Insurance, enabling seamless communication and collaboration between caretakers and the insurer, a process that previously occurred outside the platform.

Team Collaboration

The project involved a collaborative effort between AdvanceWorks and this Belgian Health Insurance. A dedicated team of three technical experts from AdvanceWorks spearheaded the development process. Their expertise in OutSystems facilitated seamless integration and customization to meet client´s specific requirements.

Goals achieved

The primary goal of the project was to streamline communication and data management for caretakers within the insurance company. By migrating existing processes onto the OutSystems platform, the project aimed to centralize information, enhance efficiency and improve accuracy.

The main goals for this project were

Establishing a user-friendly interface for caretakers to input and modify financial information, contacts and communicate with the insurer.
Standardizing development practices across all applications within the organization using OutSystems.
Enabling seamless integration with existing systems to ensure data consistency and reliability.
Enhancing security measures to safeguard sensitive information and comply with regulatory requirements.

Results

The successful implementation of the web application yielded significant improvements and measurable outcomes:

Reduced letter communication: By providing a centralized platform for communication, letter-based exchanges were reduced by 40%. Caretakers could efficiently interact with the insurer, eliminating the need for traditional correspondence. Error Reduction in Bank Account Modifications: The adoption of OutSystems led to a 70% decrease in errors related to bank account modifications. The streamlined process ensured accurate and timely updates. Decreased Application Support Cost: With standardized development practices and a user-friendly interface, the need for extensive application support diminished.

Next Steps

Building on the first phase´s success, the next stage of the project involves implementing reverse communication capabilities. This means that caretakers will be able to receive pertinent information straight from the health insurance provider via the web application. Enhancing integration, adopting and training users, and maintaining continuous improvement are important next stages.
