Submarine Cable Health Monitoring System

Industry: Technology | Service: Software Development, Transformation Services

A cutting-edge portal for real-time submarine cable monitoring, enabling proactive maintenance, improved performance, and seamless data management with minimal resource usage.

About the project:

This project leverages Angular 18 and RxJS, adopting a modular, component-based architecture to ensure scalability and smooth integration. It was designed to monitor submarine cable connections in real time, evaluate cable health, reduce downtime, and enhance the overall user experience.

Team Collaboration:

Our cross-functional team collaborated closely across development, QA, and UX design. Continuous coordination enabled rapid implementation of new features, effective bug resolution, and thorough unit testing, ensuring a reliable and high-performing solution.

Goals achieved:

  • Implemented CPS monitoring feature with radar graph, filters, and export options (PNG, CSV)
  • Developed strain events feature to save and revisit specific cable events with filtering capabilities
  • Enhanced unit tests for improved reliability (+23% coverage)
  • Improved portal navigation for better user experience
  • Fixed global bugs for smoother overall performance (-26% open bugs)

Results:

  • Successfully launched 2 new features
  • Increased reliability and maintainability of the system
  • Reduced operational issues and downtime, enhancing proactive cable management

Next steps:

The next phase of the project focuses on expanding predictive monitoring capabilities to anticipate potential cable issues before they impact operations. Planned enhancements include automated alerts and reporting to accelerate response times, as well as further performance and scalability optimizations to support increasing data volumes and long-term system evolution.
